Essays must use a minimum of five (5) scholarly sources – either books or articles. Encyclopedias, course textbooks, articles in current newspapers or magazines, Wikipedia and other similar internet sources, and self-published articles available on the internet are not permissible sources. The “Library Research Guide” (available under the “Research Essay” tab on the course website) provides tips for accessing scholarly sources through the College Library. Students should consult the instructor if they have any questions as to the permissibility of their sources. All papers are to be submitted through the course drop box function no later than midnight on the due date. Students are advised to retain a copy of their papers, rough materials and working notes until the original has been returned to you. You may be asked to produce them. Students must familiarize themselves with College policies regarding plagiarism and are solely responsible for avoiding committing this serious academic offence.
