Specific Tasks
1. Project Instructions Review
Before beginning this project, read the project instructions carefully to understand the nature of the project and the detailed organizational structure and editorial style of the project document. Note in particular that the project document should be formatted with 1-inch margins, presented in 12-point Times New Roman (or equivalent serif) font and that it must be fully consistent with
APA style guidelines. In the past, lower grades on the data analysis projects have often been as attributable to APA issues as to statistical issues.
2. Read and Reflect on Example Factor Analysis Articles
After reviewing these project instructions, prepare for the project by reading at least two peer reviewed articles that used exploratory factor analysis as the major research method.

You may select model articles from that list or you may locate others, but please ask me about articles not on this list. There are several types of factor analysis and the term “factor” is used in other forms of statistical analysis, so it is important that you read example articles that are directly and primarily relevant to exploratory factor analysis. If you are unsure about an article that is not on my list of example articles, please contact me to make sure the article is appropriate for this project.
3. Factor Analysis and Graphing With Stata and Table Development With Excel
Before preparing the first section of the project document, you should (a) conduct the data analyses for the project in Stata, (b) create the required graphs using Stata, and (c) create and properly format a factor loadings table and a factor correlations table in Excel following APA style guidelines. If you are operating as a team, all team members must participate fully in the analysis phase of the project.
To do that you should use (and modify as needed) the code in the Stata code file attached Open and Set Up the Format of the Project Document in Microsoft Word
Open a blank Microsoft Word document (in .docx format). The document must be formatted in portrait orientation using 12-point Times Roman or Times New Roman font with 1-in. margins. Set line spacing to double spacing and check the paragraph formatting to be sure that the paragraph format in Word is not adding any additional lines above or below paragraphs. Set the tabs to indent at .5 in. (Be careful, because Word’s defaults are different from these criteria.)
4. Title Page and Project Style
Begin the project document with an APA-style title page, including your name(s) but not including an Authors’ Note. See the APA manual, p. 41, for the model.
5. Abstract and Keywords
Prepare an abstract of 150 to 200 words following the guidance in the APA manual. Note that the word “Abstract” is an element of the paper rather than a heading. Therefore, it is not boldfaced as a heading would be.
Also add a Keywords element on the second line below the Abstract. This should include 5 key words or phrases (in alphabetical order). See example in the APA manual on p. 41.
6. Body of the Manuscript
Based on our class discussions and exercises, your readings in the texts, and relying on examples of the presentation and discussion of exploratory factor analyses (EFA) in the peer-reviewed research literature, and using the Word document opened and formatted above, write a narrative as the body of the manuscript following the guidance in section 8 below.
The body of the manuscript must be written in a scholarly style appropriate for a peer-reviewed journal article. The only typical sections of a traditional outline for a peer-reviewed scholarly paper that you will not need to include are a literature review and a procedures section.
7. Organizational Structure and Contents of Project Document
The project document must be organized as follows and must carefully and strictly adhere to all APA publication guidelines.
